Trollin’ around

Do trolls know that they are trolls? Are they sociopaths, thriving on the pain they’re causing, inherently evil?
Or are they simply delusional, like certain politicians, caught in their own personal universe, convinced that it’s OK to attack other people because of some nebulous ‘greater good’ no one else cares about?
